If your child is new to juicing, this is the perfect starter juice. This is the first juice that I made for my sons and they have been drinking it ever since. The sweet taste of the pink apples and carrots combine well with the celery, and mix heavenly with both the lemon and ginger. The result – a gorgeous blend of fresh deliciousness.
Carrot juice is one of the best sources of beta-carotene, which converts into vitamin A in the body, essential for the maintenance of mucous membranes, including those in the respiratory tract, which act as the body’s first line of defence against pathogens. Vitamin A also plays a crucial role in the development and regulation of the immune system, especially in the production of white blood cells, that as we know, help to fight infections.
Apples contain anti-inflammatory flavonoids including quercetin, By reducing inflammation in the body, the immune system is able to function more efficiently, making it better able to fight infections when it is under threat.
Fresh apple juice also retains some fibre and pectin, a type of soluble fiber. Pectin supports the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Since a significant portion of the immune system resides in the gut, a healthy balance of gut bacteria is essential for maintaining a strong immune system.
Note: try to find the crunchiest, sweetest pink apples that you can. Soft choices will completely change the texture of the juice (even after straining), and non-sweet varieties will dull the overall flavour. Pink ladies are a great choice.
