Daily bowel movements are essential for maintaining a child’s immune system because proper digestion and elimination play a key role in overall health and immune function, including elimination of toxins and waste, maintaining a healthy gut biome, reducing inflammation, improving nutrient absorption and helping to fight infections.
A simple and very effective bowel mover is ground flaxseed mixed with water. Flaxseed is high in fibre, which helps promote regular bowel movements, while water adds hydration to support digestion.
If your child is struggling with constipation, this natural remedy can gently ease symptoms and improve digestive health.
Note: It’s important to only grind flaxseed before you use it (store for a maximum of 7 days) because once flaxseeds are ground, they can quickly go rancid due to their high content of healthy fats. Pre-ground flaxseed can lose its nutritional value and develop a bitter taste if not stored properly. To ensure maximum freshness and benefits, it’s best to grind flaxseeds in small amounts as needed and store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer
