I have been making immunity shots for my boys for many years now, and believe in combination with green juices and smoothies, they were the initial nutrition building block that helped get their health back on track. I typically make these most mornings, before the family’s main juice, and to have after breakfast. The shots contain fresh ginger and turmeric, along with lemon and pink apple. The shots are incredibly tasty, invigorating, and I will admit it, a little spicy!!

Including small amounts of turmeric and ginger daily, can be a helpful way to naturally support a child’s immune system.

Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It can help the body respond better to infections, support a healthy inflammatory response, and protect cells from damage.

Ginger has natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects and is often used to ease digestion, reduce nausea, and support respiratory health. It can also help soothe mild colds or congestion.

Together, turmeric and ginger can provide a gentle boost to the immune system, help reduce inflammation, and promote overall well-being.

Drink shots quickly in one go, or sip slowly – daily, and especially helpful if your child has a sore throat and/or cough, to help relieve discomfort and induce an inflammatory response.

Note: if your child does find these overpowering (and kids may do in the beginning), then please don’t reduce the ginger and turmeric, instead dilute with an additional apple).

For older children and adults, a great way to make the immunity shots more convenient is to prepare the juice and freeze in ice cube trays. This keeps the nutrients fresh and makes it available to use as needed. Simply pop out a cube, dissolve it in warm water, and sweeten lightly with honey, if desired. This method not only saves time but also ensures you always have a ready-to-go immunity booster on hand. It’s a simple way to turn these powerful ingredients into a daily health habit.

Ingredients
  • Apples Pink, large, 2
  • Ginger, fresh 3 inches
  • Lemon 1
  • Turmeric, fresh 2 inches

EQUIPMENT – ELECTRIC JUICER

Instructions
  1. Wash produce thoroughly.
  2. Cut up according to your juicers capacity.
  3. Juice everything!
  4. Pour juice through sieve (for a smooth texture).
  5. Drink and enjoy!
