ICED BERRY SMOOTHIE

This simple, child approved berry smoothie is a great smoothie to start with, especially for younger children. The sweetness of both the banana and berries (we opt for either blueberries, raspberries or strawberries, or a combination of two or all) provides a taste which kids love. High in vitamin C and antioxidants, consuming berries boost the production of white cells that support the body against infections, helps repair tissues and enhances the function of immune cells.

We always add hemp and pumpkin seeds but sesame seeds add great flavour too. My boys absolutely love the addition of goji berries, a rather sour taste on their own but perfect when blended. The addition of plant based protein powder is optional, and something to consider adding for older kids.

YIELDS – 1-2 SERVINGS

Ingredients
  • Banana, peeled 1
  • Frozen Berries, handful
  • Hemp Seeds 1 tsp
  • Goji Berries 1 tsp
  • Non Dairy Mylk 2 cups
  • Pumpkin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Plant-based Protein Powder (optional) 1 tbsp

EQUIPMENT – HIGH SPEED BLENDER

Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients into a high speed blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Add additional mylk if needed for desired consistency.
  4. Can be served over ice.
  5. Drink and enjoy!
